- WhatsApp vs VEON
- Zong 4G smart move
- Jazz might improve VEON in long term plan with localized content !
Jazz have put millions of PKR investment in terms of marketing and infrastructure by setting up local VEON mobile application in Pakistan, they offered “be truly free” offers for Jazz customers.
VEON (formerly VimpelCom Ltd.) is a multinational telecommunication services company headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It is the parent company of Jazz and its major revenue earning markets are Russia and Italy. In Pakistan basically they launched a mobile app to provide communication services free of cost to Jazz users.
On other side their competitor and data lead in Pakistan Zong have tackled them with a interesting strategy by keeping WhatsApp free for Zong customers by bearing minimal cost.
Might be it looks like a similar decision to end users but what actually have been done at backend is Zong will get more benefits as they don’t need any infrastructure cost to setup WhatsApp locally, no marketing cost needed to attract users to start using WhatsApp as this application already have approx. 75% users of IM’s in Pakistan.
